The ball gown wedding dress can complement almost any figure with a few adjustments. When selecting the perfect dress, it’s all about balance! Ideally you want to balance the bust with the hips; therefore the ball gown wedding dress is very versatile. Here at Breathless Bridal in Ridgetop Tennessee, we have many ball gowns to choose from. Some examples are the dropped waist, the natural waist, the A-line and the full skirt.
For the large busted bride, the full skirt of the ball gown wedding dress gives a lovely balanced look to the silhouette. A bit of a dropped waist will make the torso look longer and show off the curve of the waist, which is a great feature for the shorter bride or a bride who feels they have a short torso.
Depending on the bride, any neckline or strap combination of the ball gown wedding dress will be attractive. Straps are easily added to any strapless gown if you want to feel more secure. A Larger busted bride can minimize the bust area with a sleeveless or long sleeve gown. Short sleeves will accentuate the bust.
If the hip area is larger than the bust, you can still have the ball gown wedding dress of your dreams. A small bust can be accentuated with short sleeves or an off the shoulder sleeve, which again, will balance the figure.
For less volume in the skirt, the A-line ball gown wedding dress may be just right. An A-line gown will compliment almost every silhouette in general. With the A-line ball gown, the fullness begins at the top of the hip instead of at the waistline as in a natural waist ball gown. This lends itself to less fullness in general, yet still having that princess ball gown look for grandeur. Fullness can easily be removed from any gown most of the time if desired, during the alterations process. I will be covering other silhouette styles in future posts. In the meantime, come in and see all the gowns we have to offer. We are glad to help you find the gown to make you Breathless!
